Shipping & Delivery Policy

Last updated: 22 September 2026

At Sam Joseph Chocolates, we take care when packing your chocolates to make sure they reach you safely and in the best possible condition.

UK Delivery

We currently deliver orders within the UK using Royal Mail.

Our available delivery options are:

  • Royal Mail Tracked 48 – £4.95
  • Royal Mail Tracked 24 – £5.95
  • Free Royal Mail Tracked 48 on orders over £50

Delivery options and charges will be shown at checkout before you place your order.

When will my order be dispatched?

We aim to dispatch orders within 1–2 working days after your order has been processed.

Orders are dispatched Monday to Friday. We do not normally dispatch orders at weekends or on Bank Holidays.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking information where available.

Please remember that dispatch time and delivery time are separate. Once your parcel has been handed to Royal Mail, delivery times are controlled by the postal service.

Royal Mail delivery times

Our standard delivery service is Royal Mail Tracked 48.

Tracked 24 and Tracked 48 are Royal Mail delivery services and are not guaranteed delivery times. Delays can occasionally occur within the postal network.

If your order is taking longer than expected, please check the tracking information provided to you first. If you are still concerned, please contact us and we will do our best to help.

Busy periods

During particularly busy periods, such as Christmas, Easter and other seasonal occasions, orders may take a little longer to dispatch and arrive.

If you are ordering chocolates for a specific date, such as a birthday, wedding, anniversary or other occasion, we recommend ordering in advance to allow enough time for processing and delivery.

If you have an important delivery date, please contact us before ordering and we will let you know what we can reasonably expect to achieve.

Warm weather

Chocolate can be affected by warm temperatures.

During periods of hot weather, we may delay dispatching orders to reduce the risk of your chocolates melting while they are in transit.

We would rather hold an order for a short period than send it when temperatures could affect the quality of the chocolates.

If we need to delay your order because of particularly warm weather, we will contact you where appropriate.

Please bear this in mind when placing orders during warmer months, particularly if you are ordering chocolates as a gift for a specific date.

Packaging

Your chocolates are carefully packed using protective packaging and sturdy boxes to help protect them during delivery.

We take care to make sure your order leaves us in good condition and is properly packaged for posting.

However, once your parcel has been handed to Royal Mail, it is outside our direct control. If your parcel arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible and provide photographs of the packaging and the damaged products so that we can investigate and help put things right.

Missed deliveries

If you are not available when Royal Mail attempts delivery, Royal Mail may leave a card or provide instructions for arranging redelivery or collection.

Please follow the instructions provided by Royal Mail.

If a parcel is returned to us because it could not be delivered, please contact us so that we can discuss the available options.

Additional postage may apply if the parcel needs to be sent out again because the original delivery could not be completed for reasons outside our control.

Incorrect delivery information

Please make sure that your delivery address is correct before completing your order.

If you realise that you have entered an incorrect address, please contact us as soon as possible.

We will do our best to correct the address before your order is dispatched, but we cannot guarantee that changes can be made once an order has been processed or dispatched.

Missing parcels

If your order has been marked as delivered but you cannot find it, please first check:

  • your property and any safe place;
  • with other members of your household;
  • with neighbours; and
  • the Royal Mail tracking information.

If you still cannot locate your parcel, please contact us and we will help investigate the delivery with Royal Mail.

Damaged or incorrect orders

We take great care when preparing your order, but if your chocolates arrive damaged, faulty, incorrect or otherwise not as expected, please contact us as soon as possible.

Please include:

  • your order number;
  • your name;
  • details of the problem; and
  • photographs of the products and packaging where relevant.

We will investigate the issue and, where appropriate, offer a replacement, refund or other suitable remedy.

Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Food and chocolate returns

As our products are food items, we generally cannot accept returns of unwanted chocolates once they have been delivered, except where required by law or where the products are faulty, damaged or not as described.

For full information about returns and refunds, please see our Returns Policy.

Click & Collect

Click & Collect may be available from our Chester city-centre production kitchen where offered at checkout.

Availability and collection instructions will be shown when you place your order.

Please do not travel to collect an order until you have received confirmation that it is ready for collection.
